Anyone who just completed a course in acupuncture from an acupuncture school would definitely want to pursue a career as an acupuncturist. But the question is how can you get into this kind of job? In order to become an acupuncturist, you would need to complete four year of tertiary study in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. You can also be entering a post graduate training program in traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and acupuncture theory. Secondary education in acupuncture would include useful subjects such as English and Chinese languages, chemistry and biology. In tertiary education, you would also need to complete certain requirements. In March 2008, the National Diploma in Acupuncture was de-registered by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority or NZQA.
